Sessions

Ninety minutes. A member leads a build for thirty. Someone shows a work in progress and the room reacts. Someone brings a problem or a failure. Then drinks. No panels, no pitches. No coding required: if you can write a firm policy sentence, you can write a rule, and the tools do the rest.

Check Every CiteSession one. We used AI to draft a client letter on recent state approaches to AI regulation, then checked every citation and compared which tools held up. Held Thursday, September 24, hosted by Falcon Rappaport & Berkman at 1185 Avenue of the Americas.

What BrokeEveryone brings one thing their tools got wrong in the last month: a hallucinated cite, a bad redline, a workflow that stalled. The room diagnoses each in a few minutes and we leave with the group's failure catalog. Thursday, October 22, 4:00pm, Manhattan. Venue to be announced.

The EvalPick one common task, a redline, a memo summary, or a citation check, agree on twenty test cases, run the group's tools against them, and score blind. The tools the room already uses become a comparison with numbers. Thursday, October 29, 4:00pm, Manhattan. Venue to be announced.

Build NightOne member walks through something they built, end to end, then the room builds a small version of it. The leader rotates each time. Thursday, November 5, 4:00pm, Manhattan. Venue to be announced.

Intake to ConflictsWire an intake agent to a conflicts check without leaking prospective-client facts. Rule 1.18 as a design constraint, and the one check that has to run before the reply sends. Thursday, November 12, 4:00pm, Manhattan. Venue to be announced.

Then weekly on Thursdays. Topics announced a week ahead and led by members. Each session has a host who provides the room; hosting rotates.

Who comes

Practice innovation and knowledge leads, legal ops, lawyers who own a playbook or a policy, in-house teams building their own agents, legal engineers at firms and at legal AI companies, academics, and students. If you build, roll out, or run the systems that do legal work, or want to, you belong here.

  • Laptops open. Every session builds something. If you came to watch, bring a problem instead.
  • Bring any platform. Harvey, Legora, Norm, CoCounsel, your own stack, or a spreadsheet. The room is about the work, not the tool.
  • No pitches from the floor. Show what you built or what broke. Vendors build alongside everyone else.

Host a session. Legal Engineers NYC is organized by ICME Labs. A law firm or company hosts each session: you provide the room and open the evening, and you are named as host on the site and on the RSVP page with your logo. Topics and speakers stay with the organizer.

Leaders dinner. Once a quarter, twelve seats, for innovation chiefs, knowledge officers, legal ops directors, and general counsel. One question per dinner, no laptops, Chatham House rule. Mention it when you RSVP.
